Birmingham to Manhattan!

I turned 30 this year and to celebrate I treated myself by booking a flight to New York! I've never visited the US before so for me this was a luxury trip which I wanted to do in style and I certainly did that. We booked ourselves into a penthouse in a superb location with an absolutely beautiful bathroom which I spent my last day collapsing in!

I heard many things about New York from friends and family who had visited, and of course there were all the US TV shows that I have practically grown up with. I could not wait, whilst there was excitement that I was going to go I don't think it actually sunk in until I boarded my flight. Oh I had somne joy at the airport as the alarm kept beeping at me, damn bra!

I went with my cousin who was also celebrating her birthday (25 years in her case) and she proved to be a great holiday partner. There was just so much to do and see that we barely slept! Food however was a slight issue for me, I'm not big on fast food and the American's can't seem to get enough of it! It's not just the food portions that American's are generous with, the drinks are equally very large!

It was a dream watching Casablanca in Bryant Park, the atmosphere was great and it completely set the mood for the whole trip. It was random, fun and free of hassle. We visited the statue of liberty and decided to just lie on the grass and enjoy the sun, travelling across the famous Brooklyn Bridge, singing and dancing in the wee hours of the morning in Times Square and checking out the amazing views from the top of the Empire State Building were just a few of my memories.

Earlier, my most memorable vacation was Egypt but this has now been replaced by New York. I didn't want to come home I was having that much fun and when I did return I slept for 48 hours to get over my jetlag! From touring the city to partying all night I was in love with the streets of New York. The tall buildings and big lights have left me mesmerised.
