Film Review: Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961)

This movie is in my list of all time favourite romantic comedies, if not the ultimate choice.

It’s still every bit as enjoyable as it was all those years back when I first saw the movie. The 60’s was one helluva era to be around in; right from the fashion through to the partying Holly (Audrey Hepburn) was doing it all. She completely steals the show.

Breakfast at Tiffany's tells the story of Holly a naïve but not dumb call girl who is searching for a place to belong and her new neighbour Paul (George Peppard), a struggling writer who is also a gigglo in his spare time. The story is looking predictable from here but it still takes a few unexpected turns and the romance between the leading pair evolves slowly.

It’s filled with many memorable moments and dialogues that stay with you long after the movie has ended; it’s a Sunday afternoon feel good movie, one that deserves to be seen by all.

Oh and how cool is her furniture – she has half a bathtub as her sofa.

Highly recommended.
